KORISA,
Village near Prizren, May 14, Refugee convoy
Another refugee convoy was bombed by NATO forces. This time their "mistake" took lives of at least 87
Albanian civilians. The attack occured at Friday night 05/14/99 in the village of Korisa near Prizren.
Officials said that the investigating team had so far registered 81 bodies of ethnic Albanians killed.
The death tool is not final and it is feared that the number could be much higher. Parts of the
burned body parts could be found up to one kilometer away from the site. A large number of found
bodies were of women and children. Prizren hospital has recieved 68 injured Albanians in serious
condition. Among the injured are also 11 children aged under 15. The refugee convoy was attacked in
three waves by 8 thermovisual bombs. The basic characteristic of this bomb is that after striking the
ground it develops a temperature of up to 2000 degrees that even melts stone. The bombs do not make
large craters but cause huge fires. This is why the consequences of this NATO attack were so tragic
and this is undoubtedly the largest loss of civilian lives in a single attack since
the beginning of the bombing.
